North Coast Regional Camping Information2/12/2022 Reserving a campsite at South Bass Island State Park CANNOT be a last minute idea; you need to reserve a site. I recommend doing that at the earliest opportunity to do so, which is 6 months in advance. The sites which fill up VERY quickly are the special sites up on the cliffs. 10 full hookup sites, and the approx. 25 tent (only) sites. There are mays other sites available. You can make reservations online at https://reserveohio.com/OhioCampWeb/Default.aspx, or by calling 866-644-6727. Online, under “City or Park Name”, enter South Bass Island State Park.
Even if you’re not sure about being able to come reserve a site now to be sure you can have one. ***The state is very amicable about refunds if you cancel because they know it will get re-rented For campsites, IN MONTH/DAY terms, you can make a reservation 6 months to the day prior to your desired arrival date. For example if you want to arrive on Sunday July 26th, you can make a reservation beginning on Sunday January 26th. New sites are not released until 7am Eastern Time, so if you want to make a reservation for a site on the first day it is available, you will need to wait until 7am to make the reservation, even if you are reserving online. If you are trying to arrive on Thursday July 30th, and if you want one of the 10 full hookup sites, it is not very likely that you can wait until January 30th at 7am to book it. I would suggest booking a day or two in advance of that and forfeit the lost days, or you can book a full hookup site for 7 days beginning on Monday July 27th thru the weekend and then go back in later and cancel that reservation and quickly rebook the same site for the days you actually want; you will lose only $6.50 in fees for doing that. (If you plan to do the cancel/rebook thing, please call me for help with this if needed.) For an Electric only site you should be able to wait until January 29th or 30th to book without a problem, but I would suggest getting online a day or two before you plan to book your site to look at the availability. There are 128 sites in total. There are 51 Electric Sites, all of which have 15, 30, & 50 amp connections. There are 10 full-hookup sites with Electric, Water and Sewer. Additionally, there are non-electric sites, some of which are designed for RVs, and there are 58 sites for tents only. There are bathroom, flush toilets, & showers in 3 separate buildings in the campground. There is also fresh water and a dump station. Pets are permitted. As you will see online, the full hookup sites are sites 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 60, 62, 63, 65, and 69. All of those 10 sites are relatively level, except for site 69…it is quite sloped…no joke(s) intended. The 51 Electric Sites are all very similar, but there are a handful of electric sites I’d AVOID if possible since they are quite sloped, or otherwise not preferred in my opinion. These are sites 47, 49, 54, 56, and 58. Payment: For campsites, Full payment is due at the time of reservation. This includes your nightly fees, a $6.50 reservation fee, and any applicable taxes. To pay by check you must reserve over the phone and send the required payment within 7 days. You CANNOT use email to change/cancel your reservation. Military Discount is 10% discount any night. Military or veteran identification must be presented at the time of arrival or check-in to receive discount. Looking Forward to Seeing You on South Bass Island. Bob Everson 513-295-7654 , FWC
